 Each subject screen searches only the books we have classified under the subject in question, in order to give a quicker and more easily targeted search. This is to make the books possible to browse.

If however you cannot find the books you want here, you should try another subject, or the Full Search screen which searches the entire database.
Title - use 1-3 significant words from the title.

 Author - Enter surname (last name) first, followed by the first name or initial. If you are entering just the surname, add a comma at the end - this will make sure that only surnames (and not first names) are searched. If you only know the first name, put in a comma and a space followed by the name (e.g. , John).

 Keyword - enter word(s) to search for a more precise subject. The words in red lower down, are automatic searches in the keyword fields for those categories, click them to show the books in those fields. Also you can add specialised keywords your self and there are some examples in italics below the search boxes. If too many books are listed, you will be able to refine your search further.

 Condition - books may be new, bargains or secondhand. Bargains are new books at sale prices - they may be publishers overstocks or a special purchase. A few of them are "seconds" with some slight cosmetic damage (e.g. knocked corners or slightly grubby). They make excellent reading copies. Secondhand books vary from "as new" through "very good", "good", "fair", "worn" to "poor" (which still be complete and readable). If the condition of a secondhand book is not given it will be fair or better.

If you still cannot find the book you are looking for:
  • Check your search. Have you miss-typed a word? Try a different search strategy such as author instead of title. Try from the Full Search screen.
  • Contact us. We will probably be able to order it for you if it is in print.
  • If it is out of print, we can record your interest in the title and let you know if we get a copy in secondhand, or if it is reprinted.
